Atlanta-Thunder Bay Swap: for Hines

$1 in cash will now be playing for the Thunder Bay Lumberjacks and 19-year-old starting pitcher Todd Hines will be suiting up for the Atlanta Smoke. The trade was announced today at a press conference by club officials.

Atlanta, California Close Deal

The Baseball News Network is reporting that the Smoke and Oceanliners have consummated a trade. California will receive $4,000,000 in cash in a swap for 34-year-old reliever Pete Nicholls. A league analyst called the trade a "pretty even transaction."
In his career Nicholls has appeared in 45 games and earned no saves with 297 Ks in 279.1 innings. He has a record of 20 wins and 13 losses and a 3.29 ERA.

Atlanta-Brooklyn Make Major Trade

Shocker! The Atlanta Smoke have reached an agreement with the Brooklyn Dodgers that will send the Smoke 22-year-old starting pitcher John Kaufman to the Dodgers for 23-year-old starting pitcher Alec Pittman, 22-year-old minor league starting pitcher Fred Pitts, 31-year-old starting pitcher Jesús Martínez, 26-year-old catcher Mal Bussard and $7,500,000 in cash. Commenting on the transaction, the Atlanta GM said, "This was a deal we couldn't resist."
In his lifetime, the 22-year-old Kaufman has won 14 and lost 9, piling up 128 strikeouts with a 3.88 ERA. Opponents have hit .230 against him.
