Kirkland Baffles Santa Barbara Batters Thursday, May 27th , 2055 The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys shut out the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes 9-0 today behind the strong pitching of Hunter Kirkland. Kirkland surrendered only 2 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 6. Following the last out, Kirkland appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Santa Barbara manager William Smith, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Kirkland's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart. The Golden Cranes skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Squirrel Monkeys press conference, Kirkland confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
