Athletic Club KC Get One-Run Win at Boston
|
The Boston Patriots inaugurated their 2056 season with a tough 2-1 loss to the Athletic Club KC at Dunkin Donuts Park. Starting Pitcher Ronald Fritz had perhaps the best performance for Athletic Club KC. Fritz, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Eric Mason, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Had Johan Møller not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Møller hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Athletic Club KC.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Boston skipper Tyler Carter.
