Coeur Drop Piranhas, 2-0
|
In a well-pitched game between the St. Louis Coeur and the Panama City Piranhas, pitcher Doug Santamarina was fantastic. The St. Louis right-hander helped his team secure the win, 2-0. Arturo Gutiérrez finished the game for St. Louis and earned his 2nd save. The 'W' lifts St. Louis's record to 23-28.
The Piranhas had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Coeur going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old left fielder Jorge Beguer came to the plate. Beguer hit a 2-run double on a 3-1 fastball from Panama City hurler Guy Riggs. It was Beguer's 9th double of the year.
"Doug was able to execute his pitches," said St. Louis manager Scott McMahon. "Simple as that."
