Seattle Bats Go Silent in 2-0 Loss
|
Seattle wasted a solid 8-inning effort from starting pitcher Bob Hickey, losing to Long Island, 2-0, at The Lighthouse. Jorge Carranza, the winner, improved to 3-4. He held the Rocketeers to no runs on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. With the win, Long Island goes to 20-31, while the Rocketeers fall to 24-27.
The Rocketeers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Lighthouse going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the slugging left fielder Feitze Lammers came to the plate. Lammers hit a 2-run home run on a 1-2 curveball from Seattle hurler Bob Hickey. It was Lammers's 10th home run of the year.
"No time for posing," said Lammers. "The next game will be here before you know it."
