Lighthouse Snatch Late Win
|
The Long Island Lighthouse took Athletic Club KC pitcher Lúcio Colón's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Athletics Park. The final score had Long Island getting past the Athletic Club KC, 5-2. Colón went 6 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 5. The winner in relief was Roger Raper. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-3. Imbart Theunen closed it out for his 6th save.
Long Island used a clutch hit from Sasha Mamchenko to snatch the win. The designated hitter belted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lighthouse ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Mamchenko.
The last-place Lighthouse have a record of 16-29.
