Rocketeers Suffer 7-6 Setback
|
The New Orleans Voodoo beat the Seattle Rocketeers by a score of 7-6. New Orleans right fielder Francisco De La Cruz deserved the lion's share of the credit. De La Cruz went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Voodoo. New Orleans reliever Elton Ray got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Gian-Carlo Maneilli was tagged with the loss. New Orleans is now 26-16, Seattle 19-23.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Steve Goodnight was at the plate when New Orleans scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Voodoo to go in front, 7-6.
"I like the roll we're on," said New Orleans manager Chase Sims.
