Sunday, September 5th , 2055
Vancouver Grey Wolves first baseman Gerald Riley put on a dazzling display of power today at Panda Park against the Montana Pandas. In the 7-1 Grey Wolves victory Riley penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Montana manager Andrew Schupick said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 32-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Riley said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Gerald Riley hit a solo-shot off Noboru Kokawa in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Noboru Kokawa in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Valentín Jiménez in the 7th.
For the year Riley is batting .237 with 64 hits and 19 home runs. He has scored 32 times and driven in 36.
