Ortega's Hit Streak Over
Monday, August 23rd , 2055
It just wasn't Oliver Ortega's day.
The St. Louis Coeur took the 4-1 win today over the Panama City Piranhas, but the Piranhas mound staff did what nobody else could -- they stopped the 21-game hitting streak of Coeur right fielder Oliver Ortega.
"We might have focused a bit too much on stopping Ortega," Panama City manager Brian Talamante commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Coeur have other hitters and they did their job today."
Ortega has collected 94 hits for the Coeur this year, 26 of them home runs. He has also netted 59 RBIs and scored 54 runs while batting .325.
