Lighthouse Take Down Stingers, 2-1
|
Long Island picked up a win at Pacesetter Park, toppling the Toledo Stingers, 2-1. Pitcher Bernardo Rivera was one of the reasons the Lighthouse triumphed. Imbart Theunen sewed up the save, his 19th. With the win, the Lighthouse sit at 53-30.
Long Island used the timely hitting of Kalino Iolana to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lighthouse on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Lighthouse manager Michael Esposito, "I like our chances."
