Lighthouse Sneak Past Divided, 2-1
|
The Long Island Lighthouse got a magnificent effort from pitcher Steven Carlson, who kept D.C. hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Lighthouse win at Washington Stadium. John Ellis, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Imbart Theunen nailed down his 10th save.
Long Island used a clutch hit from Jorge Sánchez to snatch the win. The catcher belted a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lighthouse ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"This was a tough loss," said D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
The Lighthouse are now 20-16, while the Divided fall to 26-10.
