The Detroit Elite got a strong performance from pitcher Miguel González, who stymied the Oakland offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Detroit Stadium. The winning pitcher was González, now 3-4. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. With the win, Detroit pushed its record to 19-15.
The Elite got a big at-bat from right fielder Ron Pollard. For the game, Pollard was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Detroit a 2-1 lead.
"Miguel just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Detroit manager Dustin Hewitt.
