The Long Island Lighthouse got a magnificent performance from pitcher Steven Carlson, who muffled the Mississippi offense en route to a tight 3-1 Lighthouse win at The Lighthouse. Carlson got the win, improving to 4-1. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Carlson allowed 1 run. Imbart Theunen nailed down his 8th save.
Jerry Cure, who is tied for 9th in the SL in total bases with 50, helped out the Long Island cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the center fielder went 1-3 with a triple.
Afterward, Lighthouse manager Michael Esposito was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Long Island is now riding a 3-game win streak.
