Stingers Lose to Elite in Walk Off
|
Detroit Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Toledo Stingers and Detroit Elite.
Detroit turned a good effort from starter Joe Allen into a win over the Toledo Stingers at Detroit Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Jim Hicks, credited with the win, is now 1-2. He allowed no runs on no hits.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Detroit trailing 2-1, Mauro Quijano hit a fastball from Bernardo Hernández to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Elite had a walk-off win.
"This wasn't a good win," said Quijano. "It was a great win."
The win puts Detroit at 11-8.
