Athletic Club KC Take Tight Tilt
|
The Athletic Club KC defeated the Vancouver Grey Wolves, 2-1, in United States Premier League action at Athletics Park. Athletic Club KC pitcher Lúcio Colón had a standout performance. Colón, now 6-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Miguel Martínez recorded the save, his 2nd.
In the bottom of the sixth, Athletic Club KC first baseman Vasan Parthiban gave his team the lead. With two out and a runner on 2nd, Slush hit his 9th home run of the year. Vancouver pitcher Yaichiro Shini surrendered it. With that, the Athletic Club KC jumped in front, 2-1.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Parthiban, "and then get after it again."
At 57-44, the Athletic Club KC are currently second in the Premier League.
