De La Cruz Good, But Not Good Enough, in 7-5 Loss
The home crowd had a good time watching the New Orleans Voodoo and St. Louis Coeur get after it.

New Orleans right fielder Francisco De La Cruz had a good game, even if his team did not. The Voodoo dropped a 7-5 decision to St. Louis at The BFIB. De La Cruz was 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Bob Crawford got credit for the win, improving to 11-3. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits in 6.2 innings.

The Coeur got an important contribution from third baseman Eisse van Opdorp, who in the bottom of the second knocked a 2-2 slider into right for a grand slam home run. It was his 27th home run of the season and put the Coeur ahead, 6-1.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said van Opdorp.

The win gives St. Louis a season record of 51-49.
