Patriots Fell Voodoo, 4-1
|
Behind the hitting of Jorge Rocha, the Boston Patriots stopped the New Orleans Voodoo, 4-1. Rocha went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Patriots. Martin Luther came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-1. Dave Pickett was credited with the save for Boston, his 1st of the season.
With Boston leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Rocha hit a cutter from Aarre Rissanen for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Patriots ahead, 4-0.
After the game, Rocha refused to speak to a reporter for the Boston Bulletin. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
Boston goes to 27-26, New Orleans to 33-20.
