Cattlemen Get One-Run Win at Athletic Club KC
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Ft. Worth Cattlemen and the Athletic Club KC, Chase Davis was the difference-maker. The Ft. Worth left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Davis, now 3-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. Luke Corner picked up the save, his 9th.
The outcome might have been different for Ft. Worth, had it not been for Mhelter Tejano, the slick-fielding second baseman . Tejano stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Ft. Worth up, 3-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Athletic Club KC skipper Andy Mayfield.
The first-place Cattlemen are 18-8.
