3-1 Loss to Lighthouse Extends Dayton Losing Streak
|
In a tight game between the Long Island Lighthouse and the Dayton Dirty Reds, pitcher Bernardo Rivera was terrific on the mound. The Long Island right-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. Rivera, now 5-6, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Imbart Theunen sewed up the save, his 20th.
In the bottom of the seventh, Long Island third baseman António Macías had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Macías stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-1, Long Island. For the game, he was 1-3 with a walk.
Macías called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
