Stingers Suffer 6-2 Setback
|
The Toledo Stingers and Dayton Dirty Reds were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Dayton Dirty Reds topped the Toledo Stingers by the score of 6-2, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Emílio Soto. Soto went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Dirty Reds. Kevin Horton, the winner, improved to 1-4. He held the Stingers to 1 run on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Peter O'Farrell got the save, the 10th for him this season.
Ronald Dacanay chipped in for Dayton with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Dirty Reds manager David Dodds. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Dayton, at 16-35, sits in 9th place in the Silver League.
