Seattle Dazed, Horton Gets No-Hitter
|
Kyle Horton really did a number on the Seattle Rocketeers at Magnolia Park today -- and that number was zero.
The Mississippi Mockingbirds hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Mockingbirds to victory, 1-0.
"This is something special," Horton said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."
The left-hander faced only 29 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 10 and walked 1.
"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Seattle manager Andrew Powell said when asked about the epic performance. "Horton was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."
Currently Horton has a record of 5-4 with 51 strikeouts and 14 walks in 77 innings and a 2.69 ERA.
