The Oakland Oaks faced a tough opponent in Mississippi pitcher Noud Taaij, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Magnolia Park by a final score of 4-2. Taaij went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Terry Lesage earned the save for Oakland, his 6th of the year. Oakland is now 10-17.
Oakland used a clutch hit from Ostoja Popovic to snatch the win. The third baseman belted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Oaks ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Popovic told the Oakland Times.
