Bullets Cut Down Shredders, 3-2
|
The Bullets grabbed a win, 3-2, at The Hollywood Bowl, overcoming a fine effort from Hollywood pitcher Gunnar Quinn. Quinn went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Herman Overwater came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. After losing, Hollywood is 5-8.
Baltimore used the timely hitting of José Clemente to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bullets on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Baltimore skipper Brandon Slouck.
