Host Patriots Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves moved to within one game of the ToC Semi-Finals today, downing the Boston Patriots on the road at Dunkin Donuts Park by a score of 3-1. Grey Wolves right-hander Pat Butler had a strong outing. He threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Grey Wolves a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-5 ToC First Round.
Vancouver used a timely hit from Xavier Ortíz to get the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Grey Wolves ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Boston manager Tyler Carter.
