With 5-1 Win, Voodoo Improve to 57-52
|
The New Orleans Voodoo beat the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 5-1. New Orleans pitcher and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, native Bob Kelso led the way. Kelso, now 6-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. With the victory, the Voodoo upped their record to 57-52.
The Voodoo got a big at-bat from right fielder Robert Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez went 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave New Orleans a 1-0 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said New Orleans manager Chase Sims. "It's usually not just one thing."
