MSL Kingston Township beat MSL Santa Catalina at MSL Kingston Township Ballpark, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Tomas Volkers. He was 1-2 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. MSL Kingston Township reliever Bartolo Sánchez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dennis Abbeel took the loss. José Salazaro earned the save, his 10th.
Volkers contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for MSL Kingston Township in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Volkers took a curveball from Dennis Abbeel and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Knights to leap in front, 5-3.
"We found a way to get it done," Volkers said.
MSL Kingston Township is now 22-26, MSL Santa Catalina 21-27.
