MSL Las Vegas rode a fine outing from starter Gilberto Cruz to victory over the MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at MSL Las Vegas Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. Cruz got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. Cruz allowed 1 run. Pierre-Jean Jung recorded the save for MSL Las Vegas, his 2nd of the season.
The Flamingos got an important contribution from right fielder Jesús Díaz, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 2-2 sinker into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Flamingos ahead, 2-0.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said MSL Northern Virginia manager Jaime Torres. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
This win makes it 5 in a row for MSL Las Vegas.
