The MSL St. Louis Coeur faced a tough opponent in MSL Northern Virginia pitcher Derek Carter, but did just enough to pull out the victory at MSL Northern Virginia Ballpark by a final score of 3-2. Carter went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Min-gook Yi got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Mario González finished the game for MSL St. Louis and earned his 3rd save.
MSL St. Louis used the timely hitting of Dalton Castle to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Coeur on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said MSL St. Louis skipper José Moreno.
MSL St. Louis is now riding a 3-game win streak.
