Kingfishers Take Down Dirty Reds, 1-0
|
San Mateo pitcher José Hernández gave the Kingfishers all they could handle, but in the end, Pittsburgh left Lang Park with a win, 1-0. Hernández allowed 1 run on 7 hits over 8 innings. Pittsburgh reliever Richard McCord picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. José Hernández took the loss. Pittsburgh is now 42-41.
Pittsburgh took a 1-0 lead on Paolo Lieftink's 6th home run of the season. The solo home run came off San Mateo pitcher José Hernández in the top of the eighth.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Pittsburgh manager Tyler Johnson said.
