Patriots Down Kingfishers, 2-1
|
Todd Hunter pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Pittsburgh Kingfishers, despite Hunter's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Boston Patriots at Dunkin Donuts Park. Heath Hennington recorded the save, his 1st. With this game in the books, Boston is 30-32, Pittsburgh 33-29.
Bill Zimmerman took Todd Hunter deep in the bottom of the fourth. His solo home run put the Patriots on top, 2-1. In all, Zimmerman had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 4.
In comments to the Boston Daily News, Zimmerman admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
