Dirty Reds Roll Over White Walkers, 9-2
|
The Buffalo White Walkers and San Mateo Dirty Reds were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The San Mateo Dirty Reds topped the Buffalo White Walkers by a score of 9-2. Leading the way was first baseman Alfred Howard Biggs. Biggs was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5 for the Dirty Reds. Jorge González got the win, improving to 4-3. He held the White Walkers to 2 runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 2. Hamilton Franklin earned the save, his 1st.
Biggs contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for San Mateo in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Biggs took a fastball from Rafael Trujillo and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Dirty Reds to leap in front, 4-1.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Biggs told a San Mateo Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
San Mateo is now 24-32, Buffalo 36-20.
