Kingfishers Go Down to Defeat, 2-1
|
The timely hitting of Kel Jones helped the Boston Patriots down the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 2-1. Jones went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Patriots. Boston reliever Byron Cramphorn picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Francisco Hernández shouldered the loss. The 'W' lifts Boston's record to 25-22.
Jones had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a full count forkball from Francisco Hernández, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Patriots a 2-1 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Jones.
"We were in it," said Pittsburgh manager Tyler Johnson. "We just didn't score enough runs."
