Mockingbirds Lose By a Run at Montana, 3-2
|
Mississippi wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Alfredo Rincón, falling to the Montana Pandas, 3-2. Rincón threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Steven Carlson got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Todd Jackson picked up the save, his 1st.
Chan-ho Shinn dealt the Mockingbirds a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Montana leading 2-0, Shinn, who finished 3rd in the PL in doubles with 33 in 2040, hit a 1-1 sinker for a run-scoring single.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Shinn said after the game.
The loss puts Mississippi at 2-2.
