Craig Culver never let New Orleans get something going. The Pittsburgh left-hander commanded his curveball in pitching the Kingfishers to a 4-1 win. Culver, now 1-4, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Jeffery Meyers, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.

Pittsburgh relied on the hitting of Kyung-chul Son to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Kingfishers on top, 2-0. For the game, Son had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We'll savor this win," Son told the Pittsburgh Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
