Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Montana Pandas home opener. Lewis Thompson started for the home team against Peer Slooters for the San Mateo Dirty Reds. The Pandas were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 8-7, San Mateo. Dennis Moore, though, was impressive. The winner was San Mateo reliever José Hernández, now 1-0. The loser was Horace Cope.

San Mateo used the clutch hitting of Alfred Howard Biggs to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dirty Reds ahead, 8-7. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Biggs said after the game.
