Gutiérrez and Antoine Brawl, League Suspends Them Friday, September 1st , 2051 Yesterday at MSL Thunder Bay Ballpark Alejandro Gutiérrez and Maxime Antoine got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the MSL Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC and MSL Long Island Lighthouse. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Gutiérrez will have to sit out 2 while Antoine would be given a 4-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Thus far this season Gutiérrez has posted a 4-6 record, started 14 games, struck out 127 batters in 94.2 innings and compiled a 3.04 ERA. Antoine has a 2-1 season record so far. In 6 starts, he has fanned 22 batters in 32 innings with a 4.78 ERA. |
