Northern Lions BC Fall to Condor, 7-3
|
Lewis Golafre was a major contributor to the 7-3 MSL Santa Catalina win over MSL Thunder Bay. The Condor second baseman went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Dennis Abbeel notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Germán Reyes closed it out for his 1st save.
When the Condor needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Golafre who delivered. Facing MSL Thunder Bay pitcher Steve McMillian the bottom of the fifth with runners on 1st and 2nd, Golafre hit his 1st home run of the year. It made the score 3-3.
In comments to the MSL Santa Catalina Chronicle, Golafre insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The win puts the Condor at 19-10, while the Northern Lions BC drop to 12-17.
