Grey Wolves Curb Coeur, 8-4
|
Good production from third baseman Elton Thorington helped the MSL Vancouver Grey Wolves topple the MSL St. Louis Coeur, 8-4. Thorington went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Grey Wolves. At 13-5, the Grey Wolves are currently first in the 3L MSL.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Grey Wolves sent 16-year-old designated hitter Lorenzo Mena to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run, to put MSL Vancouver on top, 5-3.
In postgame comments to the MSL Vancouver Observer, Mena said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
