The timely hitting of Iván Vega helped the Virginia Beach Whales down the Crescent City Krewe, 6-2. Vega went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Whales. The 'W' lifts Virginia Beach's record to 47-43.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Kevin Ashe didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Crescent City trailing 4-2, Ashe retired Bill Davis to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Ashe, with a wink.
