The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles picked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, knocking off the Virginia Beach Whales, 5-0. Starting pitcher Francisco Encarnación was a big reason why. Encarnación went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 11-1. At 57-30, the Screaming Eagles claim second place in the Premier AA.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Screaming Eagles had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when shortstop Daulat Mitra hit a 2-run single. The single came off Jeff Vázquez and made the score 3-0, Screaming Eagles. Mitra went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
