Narrow Win Takes Ithaca Streak to 8
|
John Dye left his imprint on the 6-5 Ithaca win against the Virginia Beach Whales. Dye, who is tied for 7th in the PAA in home runs with 15, was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The Whales, at 41-39, have lost 4 straight games.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the 13th, Alex Haynes had a chance to be the hero. Virginia Beach pitcher Santiago Díaz had other ideas. But with two outs, Haynes drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Fighting Imps had themselves a dramatic win.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Dye.
