Guinea Pigs DH MacMurdo slugs 2 home runs in Win
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs stymied the Virginia Beach Whales, 5-2, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Charles MacMurdo had a good day at the plate. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Gwinnett. Caden Hickman earned the win for Gwinnett. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 4-3. With the win, Gwinnett pushed its record to 43-35.
Gwinnett took the lead in the top of the fifth when MacMurdo hit a 3-run home run. His 23rd home run of the season made the score 3-0, Gwinnett.
In comments to the Gwinnett Citizen, MacMurdo insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
