Fighting Imps Earn 2-1 Win Versus Athletic Club KC Academy
|
Athletic Club KC Academy pitcher Miguel Martínez gave the Fighting Imps all they could handle, but in the end, Ithaca left Imps Park with a win, 2-1. Martínez allowed 2 runs on 1 hit over 8 innings. Ithaca pitcher Ángel Hernández got the win, upping his record to 2-1. Miguel Martínez got the loss. Ithaca, with the win, climbs to 26-49.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Armando Soto was at the plate when Ithaca scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Fighting Imps to go in front, 1-0.
Afterward, Fighting Imps manager Gary Thomas was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
