Whales Rally For 6-4 Win

In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
Jesús Fernández impressed in the 6-4 Virginia Beach win over Gulf Coast. Fernández was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Kevin Ashe earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-4. Carlos Martínez collected his 8th save.
The Whales got a big hit from left fielder Luc Leroux. In the bottom of the eighth, Leroux smacked a 2-run double off Gulf Coast pitcher Alfredo Ramos. It was his 10th double of the season. Suddenly, the Whales were ahead, 5-4.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Fernández told the Virginia Beach Citizen.
The victory gives Virginia Beach a record of 40-35.
