Thunder Hawks Curb Screaming Eagles, 7-5
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks overcame a fine performance by Mercer Island first baseman Shichirobei Hisamatsu to defeat the Screaming Eagles, 7-5, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Hisamatsu went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. With the win, Ft. Polk South raised its record to 45-29.

The Screaming Eagles had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Thunder Hawks going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old shortstop Wallace Sanders came to the plate. Sanders hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 fastball from Mercer Island hurler Stuart Fossett. It was Sanders's 5th home run of the year.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Sanders told the Ft. Polk South Times. "Whatever it takes."
