Rachinsky, Guinea Pigs Beat Thunder Hawks, 6-4
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs bested the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 6-4, at Experimental Stadium. Errol Rachinsky was one of the standouts. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Gwinnett reliever Alan Gilbert picked up the win to move to 4-3. Valentín Jiménez suffered the loss. The Guinea Pigs now have a mark of 36-29.
Rachinsky had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Valentín Jiménez, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Guinea Pigs a 6-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Rachinsky.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Rachinsky told the Gwinnett Citizen. "You win just by scoring more runs."
