With third baseman Iván Vega leading the charge, the Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Olympia Ogres, 10-2, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Vega, who is tied for 5th in the PAA with a .548 slugging percentage, went 3-5 with 2 home runs. Jeff Vázquez earned the win to go to 2-2. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Whales.

Virginia Beach right fielder Damon Joseph contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a curveball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 55th hit of the season and put the Whales ahead, 5-0.

"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Joseph told the Virginia Beach Citizen.
