Fighting Imps Can't Finish, Lose 7-6
|
The Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 7-6, at Virginia Beach Grounds today. Leading the charge for Virginia Beach was right fielder Damon Joseph. He went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win belongs to Hidetada Inagaki in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Mario Méndez took the loss for Ithaca. The 6th-place Whales sport a record of 30-27.
The Whales relied on shortstop Mibre Chipley for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the ninth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Domingo García.
