|
In the 13-6 Mercer Island win over Gwinnett, the impact of Joey Pinches was substantial. Pinches, who is tied for 6th in the PAA with a .877 OPS, was 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jeff Cook, now 4-2, was credited with the win. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. With the win, Mercer Island raised its record to 37-19.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the sixth when Pinches, who is tied for 6th in the PAA with a .877 OPS, hit a 2-run single. It propelled the Screaming Eagles into the lead, 6-4.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Pinches.
