Pierogis Squelch Krewe Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis topped the Crescent City Krewe, 3-0, in USPL Double A action at Field of the Rawhides. The standout performance belonged to Squirrel Hill pitcher and Watford, England, native Oliver Haddow. Haddow picked up the win for Squirrel Hill, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The Pierogis sport a record of 17-38.
The Pierogis got a big at-bat from designated hitter Francisco Féliz. For the game, Féliz went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Squirrel Hill a 2-0 lead.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Squirrel Hill manager Aaron Barnes.
